Is veganism healthy or unhealthy?

Veganism is defined as a moral way of living that seeks to avoid the abuse of animals for our food, clothing, entertainment, cosmetics and so on, as far as is practicable. By that definition veganism can be neither healthy nor unhealthy, because it is fundamentally a stance and not a diet.

This analysis places the common claim „veganism is unhealthy" on an evidence base and keeps ideological attribution strictly apart from nutritional assessment. Drawing on large prospective cohorts, substitution analyses and current position papers, it shows under which conditions a plant-based diet is beneficial, neutral or potentially risky 🧐

The takeaway: what matters is not the label on a diet but its quality, its planning, and an honest comparison with the alternatives ✅
